Ranking of innovative regions of Russia 2017

In 2012 the Association of innovative regions of Russia together with the Ministry of Economic development of Russia developed the Ranking of innovative regions of Russia with the aim of monitoring and governance.

Ranking of innovative regions presents actual results of innovation development of all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, herewith special attention is payed to the analysis of the positions of ranking of the regions-members of AIRR as well as to the reasons of their movement in the final ranking and constituent sub-rankings.

There are 29 indicators in the ranking of 2017. Version of 2017 differs by specification of 6 previous indicators united in the thematical paragraph “Innovation activity of the region”.

LEADERS OF THE RANKING are Saint-Petersburg, Moscow and the Republic of Tatarstan – top 3 remained the same. In the current version Saint-Petersburg comes first, Moscow is placed second. The Republic of Tatarstan remains third.

The group of STRONG INNOVATORS is comprised of 9 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, seven of them are regions-members of AIRR. The index value of the innovation development of these regions exceeds 140% of the average country level. Tomsk region (4th), Novosibirsk region (5th), Kaluga region (6th) and Moscow region (7th) take stable positions as well as top 3.
