TASS: Protection of intellectual property will become one of AIRR priorities

Activities aimed at intellectual property protection will become one of priorities of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) in 2017. Ivan Fedotov, the Vice-Rector of RANEPA, the Director of AIRR, Ph.D. in Economics within the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi told about it in his interview to TASS.

“This year we are intended to intensively work on intellectual property protection. For this purpose we have a committee on the legislation”, − he told. According to Fedotov, from the point of view of innovative activity development the most active are AIRR member-republics. “Yet I would like to mention the standing out Perm Krai, the Tomsk region, the Novosibirsk region, the Ulyanovsk region as extremely advanced from in relation to elaboration of modal laws”, − he explained.

Fedotov added that the Association works not only with its 14 member-regions. “For instance, our Association drafted a modal law on innovative activity that was adopted as a local law in a number of subjects not included into the association − this is essential. Because our work is meant not only for our closed 14 subjects, but can basically circulate all over the country, if only there were demand for it. We are ready to render our help to any entity of the Russian Federation both in the legislative improvement, and in some expert estimates, this means we are very open”, − highlighted the Head of AIRR.

According to him, in general, the main task of territorial entities is encouragement of investments, and private investments are of higher priority than the state ones. “Dmitry Anatolyevich (Medvedev, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – a remark by TASS) has set an absolutely specific objective for the entities − it is to get engaged in the attraction of investments <...> to the utmost extent. Private investments are much more important for Russia than the state ones because private investments are a sign of trust to the Government”, − specified he, having noticed that the growth of private investments can become one of Governors’ KPI.

According to Fedotov, for this purpose the state is ready to provide with various tools, which taken together, should make a communicative effect on economic advance.

The Russian Investment Forum takes place in Sochi on February 27-28. Its program is focused on three units of subjects: “New Regional Policy. Opportunities for Development”, “Increasing Business Efficiency. Opportunities for Growth” and “Projects for Life”. TASS is a general information partner and the official photo agency of the Forum.
