The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci opened two new Turkish plants in SEZ Alabuga

On October 8, two new plants of Şişecam company, Trakya Glass Rus (production of construction glass) and Automotive Glass Alliance Rus (production of automotive glass), were opened in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in the Yelabuga municipal district of Tatarstan. The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci took part in the ceremony.

Trakya Glass Rus is a joint project of the Turkish company Şişecam and French company Saint-Gobain. The plant is specialized in production of construction (flat) glass, mirrors and coated glasses. The total amount of investments made 7 billion rubles, 250 jobs were created. It is planned to manufacture 250 thousand tons of glass per year.

With the projected rate operation Automotive Glass Alliance Rus plant is expected to make 6,4 million units of automotive glass per year. 3,9 million rubles of investments were spent for the project implementation. 311 employees were involved in work.

Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated Şişecam management on the start of new productions, having noted that currently Tatarstan is actively cooperating with Turkish companies.

“In recent years a number of modern hi-tech companies aimed at import substitution have been founded in the Republic. In our turn, we comprehensively support these projects. We have more plans to be executed jointly with our Turkish partners”, − he told.

He also emphasized that Ankara still supports construction projects of “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline and the first in Turkey Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
