AIRR and Chinese High-Tech: Experience Exchange and Cooperation

Representatives of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia visited the headquarters of the Association of Electronic Industry in Shenzhen. It unites more than 4,000 advanced Chinese companies, including Huawei.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Shenzhen Electronic Industry Association and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Huakyaocheng Group, Chen Yuehua, presented the structure of the organization and discussed its strong market position: the association's companies account for over 50% of the total electronics market in China and are open to cooperation with partners from Russia in areas such as telecommunications, semiconductor manufacturing, integrated circuits, and quantum computing technologies.

The Director of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, Alexander Smekalin, informed his Chinese counterpart about the work of AIRR and the goals of the visit to Shenzhen, as well as presented the investment and innovation opportunities of the regions to the Chinese partners and invited them to visit Russia for a reciprocal visit. The parties discussed proposals for the localization of promising production bases.

"In the context of searching for new growth points for the global economy and the formation of a new world order, China and Russia remain strategic partners in the field of innovation. Each country possesses strong competitive advantages: Russia is among the leaders in fundamental science development, while China has unparalleled experience in rapidly launching and commercializing applied technologies. The tasks of our Associations are to jointly support and integrate the innovative technologies of both countries into global supply chains," noted Alexander Smekalin.

The AIRR delegation also met with the largest Chinese company in the field of service robotics. It has captured 60% of the market for customer service robots in restaurants and hotels in China and is one of the largest suppliers of robots in this segment worldwide. The regions of AIRR also expressed great interest in various modifications of the robots from the Chinese manufacturer. For instance, the representative of the Republic of Tatarstan, the director of IT Park, Ruslan Vlasov, proposed the technopark as a platform for piloting a joint project for testing the robots.

The speaker at the AIRR event in Shenzhen, Semyon Zagainov, informed the delegation representatives about the potential for cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies in the automotive industry:'Today, China is the world leader in the total number of charging stations for electric vehicles, with 1.8 million units, and the government plans to allocate about $1.5 billion for their expansion. Korea ranks second with only 210,000 charging stations. In 2023, the global sales volume of new energy vehicles reached 14.7 million units, with China accounting for over 60%. The development of the electric vehicle segment holds enormous potential for domestic automotive manufacturing.'
