Key Events and Trends in Federal and Regional Innovation Policy for the Coming Week

Innoprom Debut

The international industrial exhibition Innoprom kicked off in Yekaterinburg. The partner country for the exhibition is the United Arab Emirates. Its delegation is headed by Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Special Representative to Russia Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber. The organizers state that the business program is focused on discussing the main trends of the industry of the future and strengthening international ties and cooperation. The Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) is participating in the business program and the exhibition as a whole for the first time. The following is planned: signing cooperation agreements, meetings and negotiations with partners, and speaking at thematic tracks. For example, AIRR Director Alexander Smekalin will speak at the panel session "Investing in Human Capital. New Solutions to Staffing Problems" on July 9. The Association's member regions will also present new technological solutions at the exhibition.

"Archipelago" on the Islands

On July 8, the project-educational intensive "Archipelago" was launched for the first time on Sakhalin. The event brought together representatives of leading technology companies and startups, engineering and management teams from regions and universities, as well as representatives of scientific organizations developing projects in the field of new technologies. The focus is, of course, on unmanned technologies, but not only that. It is planned to discuss many innovative projects, including the development of hydrogen energy, digitalization, biotechnology and creative industries.

Subsidies for Processors

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is considering the possibility of subsidizing domestic processor manufacturers to equalize the prices of their products with foreign counterparts, including Intel. It is expected that this will help Russian manufacturers of computers, data storage systems, and servers produce equipment using domestic chips without increasing the cost of the final product. There is no final decision at this time, but discussions of such measures are a positive signal that could further stimulate high-tech development in the regions of Russia.
